My friend called me the other day and was very upset and disappointed because she really thought that she would land her dream job after interviewing online and attending their training session for several weeks. I asked her one question, "Whenever you were on the zoom call with their team, did you have your camera on?" She responded, " Girl, of course NOT!" I asked her why not? She said because she wasn't prepared to be on camera because either her hair wasn't combed or she didn't have on presentable clothes, so whenever they made reference to her, she answered but without her camera. I immediately told her, the reason you didn't land the job was because you didn't show that you were ready to take on the task. You didn't turn on your camera.
How many times have we showed up for our dreams in our conversation, but when it came to making that attempt to put ourselves out there, we turn off the camera? You ask, how do we turn off the camera? Every time we try to wait until situations look perfect to finally do what God has asked us to do. You ever heard of the phrase, "You talk a good game, but your actions show otherwise?" It's easy to talk about your dreams, aspirations, goals and passions but until you are willing to put your self out there no matter how afraid, scared, nervous, or imperfect you may look, you may be only "Talking a good game."
You will never be perfect or have the perfect situation to start doing what God has required of you. God is not looking for perfect, he's looking for obedience and the willingness to act.
Even if you are not confident in you, you should be confident in the one who made you. God has put greatness on the inside of you but greatness can only be manifested when you allow yourself to show up fully, imperfections and all.
